MRSA killed my mom leaving my dad to struggle
Organized by: Ashley Kasson
It all started on June 23rd 2015, my mom went into the hospital thinking she was having a heart attack, but turns to find out MRSA spread to her heart valve, causing her to have multiple strokes and her whole right side shut down. The only fix for that would have been open heart surgery, but she was not a candidate for surgery. She continued to fight to get better, and try to talk and eat again, but over night, got worse and her body began to shut down. She was incoherent for 4 days, she didn't open her eyes or move a finger, nothing! I knew something was wrong. Within hours, the MRSA spread throughout her whole body, instead of just the right side of her, she passed away July 13th 2015, at only 54 years old. My mom fought this infection for years, she was diabetic and on disability because she was unable to work. My dad has always been the provider of our house and does whatever it takes just to pay the bills. He has a artificial leg, but that has never stopped him from doing anything, he has never had a sick day as long as I could remember. He works his days off just to help provide for our family. He has spent every dollar he has to fix his car so he can make it to work and back, but they never came to the conclusion soon enough before the transmission dropped in it causing it to cost more to fix it then the car is worth. The car died 2 days before my mom did, leaving my dad without a car so he has to rely on others to get him to work and back to try and keep the bills paid, and caught up. He didn't even get to see my mom the last few days of her life because he had no car. My parents filed for chapter 13 bankruptcy last year, and have been trying to keep the house we have lived in for 23 years, relying on my moms disability money each month, plus whatever work my dad can get to make money. Now since my mom passed he no longer receives her benefits and everything has gone down hill. My parents have been together 34 years, married 29. He has always done whatever it takes to provide for my mom, sister and our kids. My dad has never asked for help before, but I want to ask for help for him! He is struggling hard right now to even keep the utilities on, much less keeping the house, and getting his own transportation again. Anything helps at this time of need and he will greatly appreciate every dollar he can get. Anytime he could loose his house because he can not afford it, and he will be forced to move and find a new place to live. Please help my dad though this hard time!
