In a couple of weeks, thousands of teachers will open their classroom to eager students ready to learn for the 2014-2015 school year. This year, I am excited to open the doors, for the first time, to Mr.Taylor's - English class.
Prior to the first day of school, like many educators, I will spend hours setting up and designing a classroom for student success. As a new teacher, I need your help to purchase many of the tools, materials and supplies that are essential for students success in my classroom. The majority of my time will be spent developing and purchasing material/supplies to promote independent reading, cohesive writing, and a culture of college/career readiness.
In my research, I found that most "first year" teachers spend $500 - $1,000 to purchase supplies and materials. Recently I visited Staples, Office Depot and School Box to price items that I anticipate needing for my classroom/students. I had an epiphany! I realized that my experience would be no different.
I understand that my students’ parents and school will not provide every tool I want to make my classroom successful. Thus, I am seeking the support of my friends, family, community and supporters to help invigorate the vision I have for my classroom. Contribute of $10, $20, $50, or $100 will really assist in the development of my classroom instruction. The more contributions we raise, the more energy I can put into creating a culture of achievement in my classroom and school.
