Anyone that knows me understands that I’m really passionate about a few important things. One of them is celebrating how fortunate I am by giving to others. You can do the same.
Multiple Sclerosis is one of those tragic diseases that strikes the rich, the poor, every race and religion, in every country. It is a progressive neurological disease that affects people in many different ways. It could be paralysis one day, loss of vision the next or impaired memory the day after that. When it comes to MS, two things are certain: Someone is newly diagnosed with MS every hour of every day, and living with MS means living with uncertainty.
Seven times over the past few years, I have participated in the MS 150 Bike Tour to raise money to find a cure for MS. Through the generosity of co-workers, family, friends and a few corporate sponsors, I raised $3,500 last year and about $15,000 in total over the years. My goal this time is $5,000.
I’m asking again for your donations and support. All you have to do is donate the money and I’ll practice for 6 months and make the 180 mile ride over two days in April 2012.
Donating is both easy and tax deductible and you’ll be doing the right thing for someone else. All you have to do is donate online or send me a check made out the MS Society.
The question everyone always asks is how much they should donate. That is, of course, up to you. But the simplest ways are one of the following:
- A set amount: You can give any amount with which you feel comfortable (but not so small that you'll be embarrassed)
- By the mile: Donating a set amount for every mile completed. (Remember it is 180 miles)
- A business or corporate sponsorship: For $500 I will advertise your business, charity, or even YOU on my shirt or bike, exposing your brand to nearly 20,000 riders, tens of thousands of spectators, hundreds of cows, and the media who show up in every town along the way. In past years generous sponsors have added logo panels on my bike, asked me to wear customized jerseys, and added stickers to my helmet. You provide them & I’ll add them.
You can do one thing more: Send this email to 10 friends of colleagues with a personal note from you. You can help by asking others to donate.
So there are lots of ways to pledge and you can do it now online using the DONATE link. If you want more information contact me at 512-762-4443 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org email@example.com
Join me by donating now.
