BENEFITING: American Cancer Society
EVENT DATE: Oct 19, 2014
The bottom line is Breast Cancer Affects EVERYONE.
We all know someone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their life. On October 19th, 2014 I will be walking in the Syracuse Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk for my Mother-Patricia Sharpe and my Aunt-Margaret Shannon, who are both breast cancer survivors.
I am lucky to have both women in my life, but I still remember receiving the phone call from my mom, and the sorrow I felt when she told me she was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was so scared and worried that I felt like everything was crashing down around me. Although I knew major advancements had been made over the years in treatment of the disease, I still knew there was a chance that I might lose her to cancer. My mother and my aunt are both lucky enough to be survivors of this fatal disease because of money raised by the American Cancer Society through events like Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
Please help me raise money to Finish the Fight Against Breast Cancer! You can also join a walk in the community near you by signing up at makingstrides.acsevents.org
The money raised at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walks goes towards programs in the local community such as:
Road to Recovery Transportation assistance to and from treatment.
Hope Lodge® Free lodging for those having to travel for treatment.
Look Good…Feel Better Workshops that teach beauty techniques to female cancer patients to help deal with appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment.
Reach to Recovery Emotional support programs that connect newly diagnosed breast cancer patients with survivors.
Cancer education classes.
An online cancer survivors support network.
