MS Cupcakes For A Cure
Organized by: Madison Cano
My fundraiser will help me to keep my charity going. My charity is called MS Cupcakes For A Cure. In the summer of 2011, I met one of my dad's cousins for the first time at a family reunion. My dad's cousin had MS. She was diagnosed as a teenager and her condition progressed over the years and she has now been in a wheelchair for nearly 20 years. She was the first person that I knew of who had MS and it was quite a shock for me. When my father was diagnosed less than a year later, that is when the disease and its effects really hit home. I decided to combine my love of baking with the popularity of cupcakes to not only raise awareness about MS, but to also raise money for the Northwest Ohio MS Society so that a cure could someday be found. I have been borrowing my aunt's mixer for all of my baking. I am raising funds to not only purchase my own equipment, but also to offset the cost of registering my charity as a 501(c)(3) charity and to pay my dad back for all of the 'contributions' that he has made to keep the cupcakes coming.
