BENEFITING: CONVOY OF HOPE
EVENT DATE: Oct 27, 2014
Starting on October 27 I will be attempting to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, and would like to use this personally challenging event to raise awareness of, and funds for, Convoy of Hope. This organization functions worldwide in disaster relief, sustainable development efforts and education. For example, I recently traveled to Haiti to get a glimpse of the kinds of work they do and was extremely impressed with their agricultural education and development work, and their work with schools and orphanages. They have women's empowerment programs in Tanzania and Kenya, where I will be visiting, and are now providing relief supplies to Ebola stricken areas in west Africa. Rather than simply climb the mountain for my own benefit, which would be memorable, but of short-term interest, I would like to dedicate the effort in support of an organization that can provide long-term benefit to people around the world.
