As you may know, many people close to me have survived cancer. Some have lost that fight. It seems like everyone I talk to knows someone. This horrible disease has affected us all.
For the fourth time, I am teaming up with Jodi's Climb For Hope, to raise money to fund breast cancer vaccine research. Since its inception, Climb For Hope has helped over 100 climbers to summit mountains on 4 continents, while raising over $800,000.
I hope you can help us work to eradicate this disease.
The money we raise will go directly to the work of Dr. Leisha Emens, an eminent researcher at Johns Hopkins who is working on a ground breaking vaccine. You can read more about her work in this six part series in the Baltimore Sun.
Think about that: a vaccine for breast cancer!
This year, we will be climbing Mt. Rainier, one of the highest peaks in the Cascade range, in Washington state. It is very challenging physically and emotionally.
Every step of this 14,416 foot technical climb will be tiring and difficult. Yet, I know that’s what many women receiving cancer treatment experience daily. I’m climbing so we can get closer to the day when no one will have to fear the words, "You have breast cancer."
