Final Update on this Year's Event
June 28, 2016
Our team members have close family and friends involved with the military so fundraising for Wounded Warriors made sense to us. Marc’s father, Mario Boivin, was in the Airbourne stationed out of Cypress. He did not speak of his time in the military but it affected him deeply. Stormy’s niece, Robin Marshall was very active in Cadets. These young individuals are ready to support global peace keeping efforts but we cannot help but think of the long term effects on their mental health. We all have mutual friends who were actively involved in peace keeping efforts. These courageous individuals returned to civilian life with limited mental health counselling for their experiences. This is why we chose to support Wounded Warriors so help is available to those who need it.
I believe Wounded Warriors has valuable programs to help our Canadian Veterans deal with mental health issues such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Their programs allow veterans and their families to understand and deal with PTSD with the dignity and respect they deserve. Mental health programming needs to be a priority for our returning veterans and we can help provide targeted programs through our donations.
Let us give back to those who have given so much.
