Multanen Legacy Scholarship Fund
Organized by: Joshua Myron
Five years ago my grandparents were both tragically taken from our family on the same afternoon. Our family went into a deep sadness for a long time while recovering from this loss. However, being of Finnish origin, we faithfully practice the art of SISU, which is bravery and perseverance through difficult times. After some time, my mother, a previous local business owner closed up shop and decided to put herself through school. After 3 short years, she graduated with honors and a bachelors degree in chemical dependency. My mother has always been the person who steps forward first when someone close to her is in need, regardless of the circumstances, and without judgement. She now has extended her outreach beyond her family and friends and is helping the local public while she works as a counselor at a drug and alcohol addiction center. It gives me great pride to boast of her achievements and the woman she is. While in school, she quickly realized how difficult it can be for someone in the midst of their life to return to school for further education. She struggled, and scrimped and saved, and somehow made it through, without ever letting her spirits get down. Her father, my grandfather, was a life long educator who always pushed the importance of continuing education on us, and it stuck. I too am currently working full time while pursuing a school of my own full time, scrimping and saving just to make it. My mother started this Scholarship Fund in memory of her parents. Her hope is that positive impact they had on every-bodies lives around them may be passed on to people who wish to better their own. This scholarship fund was started to help other people who struggle to fund their own education, no man or woman should ever be robbed of an opportunity, regardless of their financial situation. I am so very proud of my mother and all she has done, and all she has inspired me to do. My hope is that this story may inspire you to reach out and donate to a wonderful Foundation designed to help those who wish to better themselves. For any further information, Please visit the foundation website at WWW.MULTANENLEGACY.ORG. My mother is not aware of me starting this funding campaign, my hope is that i may surprise her one day, and give example to all the wonderful people out there that share the same caring and loving nature to those in need. Thank you for your time and donation. God Bless.
