Max's Muscles 4 Miles
Organized by: Max Birnbaum
EVENT DATE Jul 26, 2014
On July 26th I’ll be riding 68 miles on my beloved carbon two-wheeler, from the Montpelier Rec. Field to US-2, up VT-14, across VT-15 and back down VT-12. Why do such a crazy thing you may ask? Well I’m riding as a part of the 11th Annual Onion River Century Ride. More specifically, I’m riding to support the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in downtown Montpelier, which has been at the heart of our community for over 115 years. As part of Central Vermont’s hub of culture, knowledge, free education and entertainment, their doors open over 700 times a day! They serve families, children and adults of all ages, regardless of income. The Kellogg-Hubbard Library promotes literacy for pre-school children and life-long learning for all of us.
They provide free access to technology, information and materials. People use their high-speed public computers to apply for jobs, sign up for health care or government benefits, apply to college and financial aid, or to stay in touch with family and friends across the country. While serving as a warm place to read, it is a refuge from loneliness, a place full of hustle and bustle, where you can attend a ukulele concert, or hear a lecture on Pasturing with Animals or the Poetry of Williams Carlos Williams or discuss a good book.
Whether or not you have visited the Kellogg-Hubbard Library, I’m sure you can understand the need to support such a great organization. I invite you to read more about the ride by going to: http://www.onionriver.com/events/onion-river-century-ride/
Help me and the entire Annual Onion River Century Ride reach our goal…one mile at a time!
