Hello Facebook world! This summer, I have the fantastic opportunity to share my passion for music with others by teaching guitar and piano lessons at a nonprofit community center in North Tulsa called EduRec. I will be teaching beginner classes for 9-13 year old students as part of their summer day camp. Many of the children that attend EduRec's summer camp come from underprivileged families and don't have access to basic piano and guitar lessons. I took both piano and guitar in elementary school, and they created in me a deep love of music that I will always cherish. I want the next generation of kids to have opportunities to grow musically like I've had, and teaching lessons over the summer is the best way I can make a difference.
EduRec doesn't own any musical instruments, so I am raising money to purchase 8-10 keyboards and acoustic guitars. All the money I raise is for EduRec and will go into their budget specifically for instrument purchases. Please consider donating to help me purchase guitars and keyboards for EduRec! Any and all donations are greatly appreciated AND tax-deductible. The total cost of these instruments will be about $4,000, and it would be awesome if I could raise this amount for EduRec. Additionally, if you have an acoustic guitar or keyboard in your house that you would like to donate, that would be incredible as well. Feel free to contact me if you have an instrument you might want to donate.
My history in serving with EduRec is very unique. During my senior year of high school, I completed a research project in which I analyzed the energy efficiency of EduRec's building. I made a proposal to renovate their lighting, windows, and air-conditioning units in order to save money on energy costs. I learned about scientific research in this project, and I also learned that EduRec is a fantastic organization that is really impacting the North Tulsa community. Last year I used my passion for science and engineering to benefit them, and now I get to use my passion for music, too.
Thank you so, so much for reading my story. God has put a desire in my heart this past semester to invest in the lives of the children at EduRec through music, and I am thrilled to be able to live this out. I can't do it without your help and the support of a great Tulsa community! Please share this with anyone you know who loves music and/or helping children. And most importantly, please pray for the people of the EduRec community: children, parents, summer camp staff, volunteers, and organizational leaders. Pray that God will move in the hearts of everyone at EduRec and that their community will be transformed into one that loves the Lord and loves each other. Thank you and God bless!!
