It will be a year ago this October that I found Zoey. I was heading home from an appointment and there was an accident, so I decided to cut down Detroit Ave. As I was driving, I saw a group of guys taunting a little dog. So me being me I pulled over. I asked the group of guys if it was their dog. Their response was "no lady, thats your dog". Without hesitation I picked up the partially emaciated, filthy, eyes almost swollen shut puppy. I took her home, gave her food, water, and a name "baby Zoe". Her presence was that of lethargic. Over the course of 24 hours, she became deathly ill. She was vomiting, diarrhea, and having seizures. My friend Haven and I took her to the ER and also to vets office several times throughout the next week. The vet said if I would not have stopped to pick her up that day, there is no way she would have lived. Today, Zoey is healthy and doing great! She is so sweet and loves to play, play, play! She has overcome many obstacles that came from living on the streets. I am so grateful for the support I received from the doctors, nurses, friends and especially Haven! So on September 22nd, Zoey, Haven, and I will be walking for other dogs out there who also deserve a chance. The Humane Society does an amazing job is doing what they do, now it is our time to do what we need to do to give back. It does not matter if it is $1.00 or $100.00, every little bit helps! THANK YOU!
