My name is SSG Desiree Pabon, I have been serving in the world's best Army for 11 years and counting! I am proud to announce that I have been given the opportunity to compete for the title of Ms. Veteran America 2016. I am at a place in my career where I have been blessed with the time to give back to my community and serve from a humbling platform. Ms. Veteran America was started in 2012 by MAJ Jaspen Boothe who lost everything she had in Hurricane Katrina in 2005. She immediately saw the need for housing assistance programs for women veterans and began Final Salute Inc. She has since then contributed to assisting 900 women veterans and children who were either homeless or facing homelessness. It is estimated that there are 55,000 homeless women veterans in the United States on any given day. This is unacceptable for the women who have sacrificed for this country. Please help me in reaching my goal of $11, 000 (one thousand for each year I've served). This money will help house, clothe, and feed our women veterans. Final Salute Inc. also works with our women veterans to help them on their path towards independence.
