Who I am and Why I Care!

BENEFITING: FINAL SALUTE
THE STORY:
This year I am competing in Ms. Veteran America (Msveteranamerica.org). I have a lot of reason's to compete, but my biggest is to help homeless women veterans. You may or may not know that I almost became a homeless veteran woman. In 2012, I had moved to Chadron, Nebraksa for school. I had left the Army and barely knew anyone in my new town. Due to complications with the VA, my disability for cancer was being processed (which took almost a year). The Army only paid for me to move to my home of record and I paid the remainder to move from Michigan to Nebraska. I had no money and my family didn't either. I was trying to change and be the first in my immediate family to get a degree, but so much was against me. I reached out to a local veteran organization and was able to secure the funds to stay in my apartment. The local church helped with food and 6 weeks later the money from the Army came in. This is not the case for all women veterans. Some women veterans have children to worry about as well as themselves. They live in large cities with little resources to help, but Final Salute would like to change that. Would you consider donating to change the story for homeless women veterans? I want their story to be like mine. I don't want them to feel isolated or that we have forgotten about them. When they were soliders we took care of them. Why should we stop now?
