BENEFITING: FINAL SALUTE
EVENT DATE: Oct 07, 2012
We were established to identify and meet the unique needs of homeless female Veterans.
It is estimated that there are currently over 13,000 homeless female Veterans in the United States. For the sacrifices they and their families have made, this is an unacceptable state for any of them to be in. Final Salute Inc. believes in paying female Veterans with the proper respects due to them for the service they have provided to our country. Final Salute also works with the female Veteran in establishing her plan towards independence.
Who Is Final Salute?
Final Salute Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in 2010 by Jaspen Boothe, a female Veteran and cancer survivor that became aware of the large number of homeless female Veterans in the United States. Over 2 million female Veterans have served with honor in the U.S. Military since the Revolutionary War. It is estimated that there are 14,600 homeless female Veterans in the United States and the number has been increasing since the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
The mission of Final Salute Inc. is to provide homeless female Veterans with safe and suitable housing. Final Salute Inc. is taking a three-pronged approach to addressing the issues associated with the homelessness of female Veterans: Awareness, Assistance, and Aspiration.
Awareness: Brining attention to the American People that homelessness among female Veterans is on the rise and their support is needed immediately.
Assistance: Providing housing and supportive services to homeless female Veterans and aiding in the prevention of homelessness for at-risk female Veterans.
Aspiration: Instilling in homeless female Veterans that their situations are temporary and their goals are still achievable.
We are partnered up with:
The H.O.M.E. program provides transitional housing and housing subsidy assistance to homeless female Veterans and their children. The H.O.M.E. program focuses on integrating Veterans back into their local communities and provides safe residential areas to choose from. The purpose of the S.A.F.E. program is to prevent homelessness by easing financial hardships by providing rent, deposit, and utility assistance to all female Veterans and U.S. military reserve component service members with an interest free loan.
In the past year, Final Salute has provided 250 Veterans with household goods, 12 Veterans with transitional housing and prevented homeless for 5 female Veterans all on a $65,000 budget.
