Hi friends and family!

On July 31st I’ll be running a road ½ marathon here in SF. As you are well aware, I like running. But more than that, it’s an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for Humanitarian Makers. This initiative aims to embody the values of human agency and dignity in a very tangible way. We work closely with a partner, Field Ready, in building this community with relevance to humanitarian sector.

What we do: Today’s humanitarian supply chains are slow, difficult and expensive. We are working toward a future where logistical needs are met where they happen, where communities affected by disaster can take control of their situation in the immediate aftermath, manufacturing essential life-saving and life-sustaining supplies. Through access to advanced manufacturing equipment, useful information and empowering skills, they can go on to recover and rebuild. Field Ready provides this access on the ground and with partners, currently in Nepal and Turkey, along with pilots in Haiti.

Humanitarian Makers is an open, global, online community of makers supporting disaster relief locally, remotely and in the field. We are 300+ members with awareness growing through events such as the World Humanitarian Summit, the 2016 IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference and the upcoming Fab12 conference in Shenzen, China. The Fab12 brings makers together from more than 1,000 worldwide Fab Labs to share, collaborate, explore and, of course, fabricate. And for the first time, a humanitarian layer will be introduced to this amazing fabrication network....

We are in the beginning miles of a 1000+ mile journey, and I'm excited to be able to contribute time and energy - and now 13.1 miles of sweat - to move this vision forward. I'd be honored if you join me - moral support, financially and/or as a member (there are a number of ways to engage)!! Donations will be received by Field Ready and earmarked for Humanitarian Makers, should you choose to donate. Field Ready is a 501c3 and your donation is tax deductible.

Note, the video is of Field Ready colleague, Dara Dotz, recognized as a White House Champion of Change. HM works with Field Ready to share designs with the global community.

Thank you!!!
