To The Islands
Organized by: Makailyn Mongaya-Hannibal
EVENT DATE Jun 22, 2017
Hello! I am Makailyn and, at the moment, I am 13 years old. I have studied Japanese for around half my life, self taught, and I am learning Tagalog so I can go to the philippines to live with my family for a year. I plan to take a freshmen class in my birthplace, America, and then a 1st year class in Japan, and then take my junior year in the Philippines in my family estate with my father, and then return to America for my senior year and spend it with my Mother(who has MS) and Step-Father. My only reliable exchange program is quite expensive, and seems to only cover travel prices instead of worrying about living situations, and I'm making multipule trips, so I hope you understand. I've taken up a few small jobs, but it still doesn't help much.
Ever since I was around 4 or 5, I had dreampt of going to japan and living their lives at least for a day. When I was 9, I began taking online classes on the language and culture and also bought a few items online when I was about 11. I had planned this trip only moments after I had even heard of Japan when I was 4 or 5.
My biological father, I had never actually met in person. He offered me this trip to the philippines since I was around 7, though it's highly doubtful that he'd be able to pay for it. I wish to see the life I missed, to meet the family I never knew existed. Though, I'm pretty sure I'll make a fool out of myself with my "manners" (^-^")
