Our Month! with a Butterfly Transformation in the works...
October 04, 2016
BENEFITING: MY HOPE CHEST
EVENT DATE: Oct 26, 2016
My Hope Chest was founded by breast cacner survivor Alisa Savoretti in the fall of 2003. It is a national grassroots organization and the ONLY national charity funding breast reconstruction for uninsured and underinsured breast cancer survivors.
History.... A breast cancer survivor and Las Vegas Showgirl, she was 38 and without insurance at the time of her diagnosis. Following a mastectomy and only 5 months after finishing her chemotherapy, Alisa returned to the Las Vegas stage and her career as a professional dancer – this time however, minus one breast. With a sense of humor, she Billed herself as the “Lop-sided Showgirl”, sharing her personal story and plans for an organization as a result of it. Alisa had to wait nearly 3 years to acquire her own reconstruction, which was not funded by he chaity she began. She realized the huge gap in this "final steop of breast cancer treatment" that existed for “uninsured” women suffering from a mastectomy and took action to create a solition- hence the birth of My Hope Chest.
What is Reconstruction?Breast Reconstruction is NOT a "boob Job." It's a complex Series of 3 surgeries, involving a surgeon, his anesthesia doctor and facilty. The surgery spans one year with a cash pay cost to uninsured women ranging from $25,000 and up to $200,000 for complicated FLAP surgeries. We negotiate a Medicaid rate and now fund the HUGE dedictibles of the Insurend up to $6600. Our program is by far, the most complex breast cancer mission in America.
Creating Butterflies ~ Transforming Lives
My Hope Chest's unique mission is on the back end of the disease... the HAPPY part, where women are transformed from disfigured and depressed to being made whole again in body, mind and spirit. Laurie had waited 8 years missing both breasts when she found MHC. Ruth Anne... 14 years. Thes are our Butterflies and we are honored to serve them.
Your donation will help us provide surgeries and Co-Pays that absolutely change lives and help survivors find closure from their cancer journey. Every Dollar matters. It takes a village.
