My mom's hospital bills
Organized by: Juliet Briggs
My name is Juliet Laspobres Briggs and I am a dedicated mother and wife. I owe my life to my selfless 71 years old mother who is now in bed of sickness yet unknown. She is a very vibrant human being who loves to walk around the neighborhood and help others, specially senior citizens like her. She would give away her last cent to help a mother buy medicines for a sick baby or give a bag of rice to those who has nothing to eat. My siblings call her " A Social Worker ". She only finished second grade, but she was the one who taught me how to read and always reminded my siblings and I to strive to finish school because they have nothing material to leave us because we are very poor. My siblings and I did finish our college and work. But money when it comes to medical bills doesn't go very far for us. Recently, my siblings in the Philippines had her confined in the hospital because she had lost her strength to do the things she usually do. After a battery of tests and CT scan, they found out that there are masses in her abdomen. She couldn't eat well because her system wouldn't tolerate and throws up. My husband and I tried our very best to help out despite going through financial crisis ourselves as well. His working hours were reduced to due to lack of funding in his job that depends on donations. I work part time as a Paraprofessional. Since this is summer, I don't have any income. I have been trying to find a summer job or anything I could get some financial help, but it has been very difficult to find one. My siblings are doing the best they can to take care of our mom, yet money doesn't go a long way. They have exhausted all their finances and is in debt already. It is very heartbreaking for me to hear my siblings crying for help and I feel very helpless myself. I am asking kind hearts to please help me so my mom to recover. My parents will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in September and I pray that they will have time to celebrate. May heaven reward your kindness. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
