BENEFITING: CT Challenge
EVENT DATE: Jul 28, 2012
The Connecticut Challenge is a volunteer bike ride for 75 miles throughout Connecticut to raise money for cancer survivors and the complications they face later on in life from chemotherapy, radiology and other treatments.
I signed up for the CT Challenge almost 4 months ago as part of team through work. The day I signed up, my pregnant wife was hospitalized with pregnancy complications. Soon after she gave birth to our baby girl approximately 11.5 weeks early.
I spent the next three months running from home to work to the hospital each day to visit each of them. My wife would come home 10 days later and finally after 3 months in NICU unit, our beautiful daughter finally came home and is doing well given the circumstances.
In the meantime, I personally haven't had any time to either raise money for our event or exercise to prepare myself for the CT Challenge. Most everyone around me has told me I can back out of the race but as a cancer survivor myself, I'm going through with it and hopefully showing up with a large donation.
Thank you for your help.
