THE STORY:

My name is Crystal and I am starting this Fundraiser for my sweet wonderful Dad. My dad's name is Roy, he is 51 years young and a self-employed OTR truck driver. He was diagnoised with colon cancer in August 2015. He has not been able to work due to pre-op tests and many doctor appts. He also has anemia due to the bleeding of the tumor, the doctor does have him on iron supplements but he still is weak, tired, and has abdominal pain. His doctor said it was not a good idea to work right now, especially with his job. He does not qualify for disability being that he is self-employed. He is in a situation where he can't pay for living expenses and the medical co-pays. He will be having he surgery soon, but for now he is feeling the stress of having to support our family. He wants to get back on the road and work until his surgery but as ill as he feels he does not want to risk other life's and put anyone in danger just to make money.

It will be going on 3 months that my Dad has not been able to work. My Dad spent Father's Day 2015 in the ER because he was having severe abdominal pain and vomiting. Blood tests showed he had an infection, they started him on antibiotics and pain medicine until they could figure out what was causing the infection. Dr ordered CT scan and it showed abnormal wall thicking and several small polyps in the sigmoid colon. Dr admitted him into the hospital to continue IV antibotiics and have a Gastroenterologist to see him. He was released from hospital on 6-23-15 with antibiotics and referral to have a colonoscopy. He had to wait for infection to clear up before he could have the procedure. He went on 8-7-15 for the colonoscopy and the Dr found 10 small polyps that he was able to remove and a 4×3 cm size tumor that he took a sample of for biopsy but was not able to remove, the results came back it was cancer.

If you have read to this point I really appreciate you taking time to do so. My dad has the kindess, and most giving heart. He has always been there for our family, friends, and strangers. He is such a hard worker and has always supported our family not only financial but with mine and my brother's hopes and dreams. You would'nt know by looking at such a tough a rugged guy that his favorite place on earth is Disneyland. Every year he says "You know what we didnt do? Go to Disneyland!" Which my mom would reply with, "I know dear, maybe next year." I am a 20 year old full time college student and he still does not call me by my name he calls me "Sweetie" and I wouldnt want it any other way.

If possible we would appreciate any donations to help with expenses so my Dad can feel some sort or relief while he is dealing with this unexpected fight against Colon Cancer. If you are unable to donate prayers and thoughts are just as valuable. Thanks again for taking time to read what I had to say about my dad.

Much love, Crystal Dixson or as my dad would say... Sweetie. xoxo
