My illness/disorder has caused me to lose my houses
Organized by: Christina Holland
Several years ago I had a bad head injury leaving me with a traumatic brain injury causing me to have permanent neurological problems, memory problems, and problems learning and retaining information. It made my life difficult but I was determined to care for my two children and my property. I have two houses on one lot. I live in one and rent the other one which helps pay the mortgage. I've lived here for 20 years. I've spent thousands of dollars improving the houses and paid my mortgage faithfully until I was diagnosed with an auto immune disease called polymyositis. My immune system is attacking and killing my muscle. I was put on a medication (prednsone) that suppresses the immune system so my body would stop attacking my muscle. The muscle atrophy was so bad that had to be on bed rest so my muscles could heal. I'm now on SSI and able to pay my mortgage but it took so long to get the SSI that my property is now in foreclosure with a sale date of July 1st. I'm trying to raise enough money bring my payments current. This would stop the bank from taking my home and give me the time I need to modify the loan. I'm in desperate need of help. If I lose my home, I also lose more than half my income. The rent I receive has been part of my income for the last 20 years and I need it now more than ever. My SSI payment is only $529.29 a month. I can't live on that. I'm asking to please help me. Thank You.
