Myra's Kansas Ambassadors of Music European Tour. Summer2015
Organized by: Kristin Beal
Myra first began playing the violin in Kindergarten through a school program using what is called the Suzuki Method. The Suzuki Method is based on the premise that every child, if properly taught, is capable of a high level of musical achievement. The goal of this type of musical education is to raise generations of children with "noble hearts" (as opposed to creating famous musical prodigies).
I want to make good citizens. If a child hears fine music from the day of his birth and learns to play it himself, he develops sensitivity, discipline and endurance. He gets a beautiful heart.—Shin'ichi Suzuki
She built upon this early love of music and requested private lessons in middle school. She has been studying with Laura Carpenter for 3 years. Myra plays with the Wichita Youth Symphony and was the Concertmaster of her orchestra at East High School last year. She was nominated for the Kansas Ambassadors of Music by her East High School orchestra teacher, Eric Crawford. While it's a great honor to be selected, it comes at a great expense. Please help us send her! Every little bit helps!
With the Kansas Ambassadors of Music, Myra will visit 7 countries in 16 days, playing in Cathedrals and Castles along the way! This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity!
Any amount will help, please give what you can and help us make this dream a reality!
Please note: For your donation of $250 or more, Myra will schedule a performance for your upcoming event, including parties & weddings. Restaurants can schedule a performance for their lunch or dinner guests. Music requests are welcomed in advance.
