BENEFITING: MANNA SCHOLARSHIP FUND INC
EVENT DATE: Oct 13, 2013
8 Million people are suffering from Eating Disorders in the United States. Of those, only 1 in 10 currently receive treatment.
The diet industry is a $40,000,000,000 investment annually. For perspective, this is the same the US Government spends on Education each and every year.
It's time for us to stop chasing this 'SKINNY' ideal and instead, promote the STRENGTH of women and men. It's time for us to focus on health and not just on weight
26.2 Miles. $12,000. 1 Life Saved. Contributions go directly to support the MANNA Fund, a non-profit organization providing scholarships to individuals who cannot afford treatment for Eating Disorders. Estimated at $12,000 for 1 month of out-patient treatment, the MANNA fund recieved over 200 applications for scholarships last year and in 5 years has awarded 14 full scholarships. Help me increase this number to 15.
At 16, I was diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. At 20, I was fortunate enough for my parents to help cover $12,000 for a month of treatment, a choice that turned my life around 100%. Today, I live by the motto that 'to those whom much is given, much is required.' I want to give another the opportunity for a true life through treatment.
Join me in the completion of my first ever Marathon - a 26.2 mile run through Long Beach, CA and, through this, my fight against SKINNY, promoting health and STRENGTH instead.
Anything you are able to contribute to this cause is SO appreciated. Every dollar counts. If you aren't able to contribute, do me a favor to spread the word. I'm happy to share information with any and all who are willing to listen and hear.
Thank you for your time and Stay STRONG!
