BENEFITING: Family Services of Westchester, Inc.
Hi Family & Friends,
For the past two years, I have been extremely lucky to intern as a social worker at My Second Home (MSH), a non-profit adult day center in Mt. Kisco, NY. Older adults with cognitive (like Alzheimer's disease) and/or physical impairments spend the day at MSH with an incredible staff and a schedule filled with great activities. Our participants are treated with compassion, dignity and love -- and the staff is dedicated to ensuring that each day is joyful. And, for those older adults who love being with children, MSH shares a building with another wonderful non-profit, the Mt Kisco Child Care Center -- so intergenerational activities (and lots of smiles and giggles) happen each day.
For caregivers, bringing their loved ones to MSH provides them with some respite -- as well as peace of mind because they know that their loved one is safe and cared for throughout the day.
I am hoping that you can join John and me in contributing to a Scholarship Fund that will help defray the cost of attending MSH -- so that all older adults and their caregivers, regardless of their ability to pay, can access the benefits of MSH.
Even though I am finishing up my internship at MSH, I plan to stay involved as a volunteer -- it is a truly amazing place that provides so much joy and dignity to older adults in their later years.
Thank you so much for your support!!
Here's a wonderful short film directed by Academy-award winning director Megan Mylan about My Second Home's intergernational programming with the Mt Kisco Child Care Center. Enjoy! http://livingwithalz.org/my-little-friends/#.VU7bA1yZLHE
PS - Family Services of Westchester (FSW) is My Second Home's parent agency. Your donation will go to FSW, which will allocate it directly to MSH in Mt. Kisco.
