1 in every 285 children will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 20.
Childhood cancer is the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S. and statistics show that the incidence of Childhood Cancer continues to rise, yet, government funding for Childhood Cancer Research remains less than 4%.
For this reason researchers must rely heavily on foundations and charities like us to fund the desperatly needed research. Although great strides have been made over the years for the some of the most common Childhood Cancers such as Leukemia; other cancers' survival rates remain dismal. For some, such as DIPG, an inoperable brain tumor, no advances have been made and it remains terminal upon diagnosis.
Children lucky enough to survive these treatments suffer lifelong side effects and have a higher chance of developing a secondary cancer. In the last 20 years only 3 drugs have been approved for the use in children, meaning all the chemotherapy drugs being used right now are adult based chemos. Children are not small adults. Their cancers are different and respond differently to these harsh treatments which are barbaric and torturous. Please help fund research for new, less toxic, more effective treatments for children battling this devastating disease.
PLEASE HELP MAKE A WORLD WITHOUT CHILDHOOD CANCER A REALITY
