Thank you for your interest in MyTeam Triumph - Wings of Columbus, GA!
“MyTeam Triumph - Wings of Columbus, GA” is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in the fall of 2015 by Mercer University School of Medicine students and is designed to give children and adults with physical-limitations the opportunity to participate in endurance races such as 5K’s, 10K’s, half-marathons, and full-marathons through the use of specialized wheelchairs and teams of able-bodied runners.
Captains: Children and adults with physical-limitations are called the team “Captain.” and lead their team of “Angels” through the race course.
Angels: Volunteer athletes are called the “Angels,” and they push the team “Captain” through the race course
MTT Leadership: We are a team of six Mercer medical students who run the MTT Wings of Columbus, Ga Chapter and facilitate the racing experience between Captains and Angels. The members of our Board of Directors and our Executive Committee are volunteers and do not get reimbursed for their time.
Our Mission: “To enhance the health and well-being of individuals with disabilities by fostering lasting, authentic relationships through the teamwork environment of endurance athletes.”
How Can You Help?
By donating to MyTeam Triumph Wings of Columbus, you will be helping us purchase the specialized racing wheelchairs needed for our Captains to experience a race! These chairs are specially designed for distance running and keep our captains safe during the racing experience.
Axiom Racer - For our program to continue to benefit Columbus, GA for many years to come, we must purchase our own ADA-approved racers, which are costly. The racer pictured below is ideal for our purposes because it is safe, sturdy, and comfortable for our participants. It is able to withstand marathon-distance races, and is able convert to a pull-behind bike trailer which allows our Captains to participate in the bike-leg of triathlons. The back wheels of these racer wheelchairs can be modified to express the logo of the donor’s business. The price of this specialized wheelchair is $3,000.
Donations as small as $25 will cover the race entry fee for one of our Captains to experience a day full of racing.
Our number one priority is the safety of the Captains!
Your donation is vital to the success of this organization! Thank you!
