Jennifer Burton's Fundraiser:

My Volunteer Trip to Africa

Meaning. Purpose. When I think about why I’m here on this earth, these two words keep coming back to me. I ask myself, Why am I here? What should I do before my time is up? The answers are always the same: I’m here to make a difference and to help others.

The way I am choosing to make a difference is by immersing myself in another culture and doing what I can to help. Whether it’s in educational projects or women’s development, I am choosing to start this journey in Africa.

I’ve always had an interest in the world’s poorest continent and after taking a class on the last 200 years of Africa’s history, my interest turned into passion. As easy as it is to become distraught over the plight of so many Africans, I would rather ask the question What can I do to help? The first logical step is to go there myself with a qualified organization.

Operation Crossroads Africa is an organization dedicated to making a difference by building bridges between North American and African communities through community construction as well as projects in health, agriculture, education, and women’s development. Their motto is “make a difference for others, see the difference in yourself.” The materializing of that motto is my dream.

The cost of this program is $3,800. I’m starting today with very little and hoping to raise the full cost of the program. Whether $50 or $200, your donation would be appreciated more than words can express. In return for your generosity, I will send you a personalized thank-you letter and a photo (via e-mail or mail based on your preference) all about the work I will have done and the amazing people I will have met thanks to you. (Just send your address or e-mail address via this website.)

Thank you for your time and have a beautiful day!
