Nehcip has identified 56 households headed by single grandmothers above 60 years; who are at the same time guardians of total orphans as a result of HIV/AIDS. These are poor families in rural communities of Kakamega County. We have held several meetings with these guardians and their major concern is how these orphans will realize their academic dreams. We have been supporting them with food and uniforms and 20 of these orphans are siting for their class 8 exams. 12 of them are girls and 8 are boys since we don't have the resources to support their education. The orphans are determined and excel in class work but don't have hope for continuity in high school. Like Shadrack Masinde of Lubanga Primary said and i quote "if getting one meal a day is a problem, will my grandmother afford to pay my secondary school fees? My hope died with my parents". Nehcip is requesting that you held donate funds to assist these orphans to give them a brighter future.
