I am Edan Friedman, a soldier in tzahal. In august of 2011 i made aliyah to israel and was drafted to the army in november. At the start i only had to serve 6 months because of my age (23), but i chose to sign on for a combat tole, passed a grueling 4 day tryout and was accepted to sayeret nachal with the best young men israel has to offer. Our training lasts 1 year and 2-3 months until we are ready to do our job. Because we are in a special unit, there are very few of us and we work in a squad of 20-25 people instead of a platoon of about 150. We specialize in recon and counter-terrorism and go through some of the hardest training the army has to offer. As we are such a small group we have limited resources for fundraising things that the army wont supply us with. We are hoping to raise money for items such as new boots (extremely important), warm clothing (fleece jackets, beanies, neck warmers, gloves), multi-tools, headlamps, camelbacks, kneepads, and other various things. The only way for us to acquire these items is through private donations. You do not understand how much it would mean to us to have these items and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart (and can assure you my unit feels the same way). Every donation will go towards something that will be used on a daily basis to make our job easier. Feel free to contact me for more information.
