My nephew, Najeik Willis is graduating this year and is headed to Sam Houston State University in the fall. He just turned 18 and has been an A / B honor roll student throughout his schooling. He has been a terrific kid through and through and everyone from his football coaches to friends of the family agree that this young man has a good head on his shoulders. He is going to study criminal justice and wants to become a police officer when he graduates.
Most of you know that Najeik was in an accident, which involved a vehicle and breaking his collarbone through no fault of his own. Before this accident, he was hoping to get scouted to play football, which is another one of his passions. As this event happened right before football season began, he was unable to shine on the field as he had done since he was 8 or 9 years old. In his senior year, he has had to heal from this accident, not play football, and change his plans entirely. He has accepted this situation and managed to handle it with grace and strength.
Najeik's mom (and my sister), Jacqui has been through quite a tough time, but always manages to keep her head up and a huge smile on her face. She has done an excellent job of supporting her two children (mostly alone) for the past several years. Although she has been extremely financially strained, she has managed to save $1,200 to go towards a vehicle for Najeik before he goes away to college. She has already received about $500 more in family donations and had been searching vehicles under $2,000. However, most are late models that need a little work or would be costly to repair. Neither Jacqui or Najeik would be able to support major maintenance to an older vehicle so I am trying to help. I am hoping that as Jacqui's friends and family we might be able to help them afford an earlier model and more reliable vehicle. If you are able to donate $10 that would be absolutely fantastic. Any amount will be very much appreciated and put towards the purchase of a vehicle for Najeik. If you need any more information, please feel free to contact me. Thank you so much for considering contributing to this goal. Mari Boyd
