My mother in law, Nancy Tyler, went into the hospital earlier this year with severe stomach pain. After being in the hospital for more than a week, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. At that point, we were devastated. However, the doctors told us that they could operate to remove most of the tumor. On March 11, 2016, Nancy went in for surgery. Unfortunately, the doctors stopped the surgery once they opened her up because the cancer had already spread to all of her major organs. She is now going through chemo to give her a little more time. Naturally, I started researching everything I could about pancreatic cancer. I soon found that it is one of the few cancers that has not had much progression in the past 40 years towards detection or treatment. I have known more people with pancreatic cancer than any other cancer. THIS HAS TO CHANGE. This is the reason why I am raising money for Project Purple. We need more research in this area.
