Naomi and I will be taking on a great challenge and we need your help! On Saturday, October 20, 2012, we will be sea kayaking a 3 mile racecourse on San Francisco Bay in support of Environmental Traveling Companions’ (ETC) accessible outdoor adventure programs for people with disabilities and economically disadvantaged youth.
Will and I have been volunteering for ETC since 2009. We have taken folks with MS, traumatic brain injuries, developmental disabilities, and physical disabilities rafting and cross country skiing. We've also taken many low income kids from San Francisco, some of whom have been in drug and alcohol recovery programs or have had a parent in jail. Most of the folks we take on these adventures would not be able to afford them on their own, so we are hoping to help ETC raise money for their scholarships by participating in this ETC Paddle-a-thon.
Naomi loves whitewater rafting and kayaking and is excited to help raise money so that other kids can also enjoy these adventures. We are both looking forward to sea kayaking in the San Francsco Bay together, for this wonderful cause!
Since 1972, ETC has been opening the doors to wilderness adventures for over 62,000 individuals with special needs. Last year alone, ETC’s family of volunteer guides led 2,100 people with disabilities and low-income youth on exciting and educational sea kayaking, whitewater rafting, and cross-country skiing adventures. I deeply believe in ETC’s mission and I hope that you will assist me in my efforts to raise money on their behalf.
ETC is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. All sponsorships are tax-deductible and you will be formally acknowledged with a thank you letter from ETC after the event. For additional information on ETC’s good work, please check out their website at www.etctrips.org.
Thank you for joining us in support of keeping outdoor adventures accessible to everyone in our communities!
