When I missed qualifying for the 2017 Boston Marathon by 22 seconds, I knew that one door had closed for the time being, but I was not ready to give up. So, I was thrilled when a cousin, Sean Lannan, of my wife Julie, told me that I could run in support of the Nashoba Learning Group (NLG). NLG (https://nashobalearninggroup.org/) provides help for those with autism and hope for their families in the Boston area. This hits home with me, because Sean, and his wife Stacey, have a son, Peter, who attends school at NLG. I also have friends and other relatives who are dealing with the challenges that autism presents. According to the CDC, about 1 in 68 children has been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD); so clearly, the need is great.
In speaking about NLG with Sean and Stacey, I have learned of the immeasurable benefit that NLG has provided to Peter. NLG is such a special place and the waiting list so long that gaining admittance is like finding the golden ticket. Your donation to NLG will help it provide services to more children and adults.
Had I run 22 seconds faster in the Colorado Marathon, I could have just been running the 2017 Boston Marathon for my own self-fulfillment. Instead, I have the opportunity to run for a greater cause, and with your help, it will make a difference.
