BENEFITING: YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee
ORGANIZER: YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee
EVENT: Purple Purse Challenge
As you probably know, I'm incredibly passionate about the work we do at the YWCA. We try to remove any barriers that could keep a women in an abusive relationship and we've discovered that many women stay so their pets won't be left behind! There are currently NO shelters in Tennessee who offer a pet fostering program and the YWCA wants to change that. Give your lunch money for the day – that money could help us save a women, child or pet’s life!
7 out of 10 that’s how many survivors of domestic violence say their abuser threatened, injured, or killed their pets.
1 in 4 that’s how many survivors say they delayed fleeing violent homes for fear that their pet would be harmed if she left it behind.
3 out of 4 that’s how many survivors of abuse say they stayed because of economic reasons.
By supporting the YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee - YOU can help change these numbers.
The YWCA is launching the Pet Project, an animal fostering program for survivors of domestic violence. Your support can help take the control—both emotional and financial—away from abusers while protecting victims and providing safety to women and the animals they love.
