BENEFITING: YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee
ORGANIZER: YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee
EVENT: Purple Purse Challenge
Hi! My name is Laurie Miller. Thank you for visiting my Purple Purse Campaign page! I am honored to become a Junior Board Member of the YWCA. As most of you know I am incredibly passionate about the YWCA's initiative to eliminate domestic abuse and to empower women. I grew up with domestic abuse in my home and have first hand knowledge of how it affects everyone involved. The Purple Purse campaign combines my passion of the YWCA and everyone's love for animals. Let's raise some money to empower women to leave an abusive situation and have the ability to bring their pets rather than leaving them behind and fearing any harm to them.
The YWCA is launching the Pet Project, an animal fostering program for survivors of domestic violence. Your support can help take the control—both emotional and financial—away from abusers while protecting victims and providing safety to women and the animals they love.
7 out of 10 that’s how many survivors of domestic violence say their abuser threatened, injured, or killed their pets.
1 in 4 that’s how many survivors say they delayed fleeing violent homes for fear that their pet would be harmed if she left it behind.
3 out of 4 that’s how many survivors of abuse say they stayed because of economic reasons.
By supporting the YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee - YOU can help change these numbers.
