I will be joining a team of 150 strong on May 20th for the Annual Bay to Breakers race and partnering with the 104 Girls of Daraja in Kenya to raise money to support the new class of 2012. I am convinced that these girls will change lives -- their own as well as those of their communities and their country. I will be partnering with a wonderful girl named Margaret.
Please consider making a contribution to support these wonderful girls -- your gift will provide access to education for an exceptional and promising young woman who has no other way to get it...join us and make a difference to someone special! PLEASE Check out our video and see what makes Daraja so special!
Margaret knew that despite her exceptional marks it would be nearly impossible to go to secondary school. Her bother, however, provided moral support and constantly encouraged Margaret to keep up her academics. Upon graduation, many of her classmates continued to secondary school and Margaret was left behind. Some months later she received a letter from Daraja Academy. Now she is the first sibling in her family to attend secondary school.
Margaret has quickly established herself as a standout student. She participates well in class, has a great attitude, and ranked 9th in her class during the first term.
Despite coming from such a different background, Margaret has come out of her shell quickly. She is very open with the Daraja students, staff and volunteers. Her nickname with a few volunteers is “Smiley” since it is easy to find her displaying her beautiful trademark smile.
Thank you! Educated Girls will Change the World!
