As many of you know, I volunteer for Bright Beginnings Inc. in
Washington, DC. Bright Beginnings provides homeless infants, toddlers,
and preschoolers (aged six weeks to five years) with a safe,
nurturing, educational environment. It prepares the children to enter
kindergarten ready to learn, and also supports parents as they
stabilize their home lives. Bright Beginnings serves approximately 139
children from 88 homeless families across the District.
Each year my Junior League committee organizes a 5K Race to benefit
the Bright Beginnings Center. This year’s race will take place on
Saturday, March 2nd at Freedom Plaza Washington DC at 8 a.m. For those of you who are out of town, it’s a great excuse to visit DC!
If you are interested in supporting the race you can do so by registering to run or walk at http://bbi5k.eventbrite.com/#
Registration is $25 by before January 15th and $30 up until the day of the race and all race participants receive a great t-shirt! We have prizes for the top 3 runners in each age category, as well as raffles!
This year we are hoping to have ~1500 runners and to raise over
$55,000. Every runner (or walker) and every dollar truly counts.
Please spread the word to your friends, family, and coworkers (and
feel free to forward this note).
The race is lots of fun so I hope to see you there!
