Hello, my name is Natalie and I am a senior at Gibraltar High School aiming to give back to the shelter that gave me so much. I recently went to adopt a kitten from the humane society, and I fell in love with one named Margaret. My parents thought I should adopt a different one because she was extremely shy and they worried she wouldn't outgrow it. I felt a connection with her, and I knew she was right for me. I have never made a better decision. One reason why I wanted a companion is because I've been struggling with extreme anxiety and depression. Margaret (now known as Bonnie) has acted as my therapy cat and I plan to get her registered to become official. She has helped me through panic attacks, she cheered me up whenever the depression got bad, and she always makes sure to greet me with a chorus of meows when I get home. Had it not been for the humane society, I never would have found Bonnie. That is why for my senior community project, I chose to raise money for the DoCo humane society through running a half marathon. Any donations are appreciated and I am thankful for everyone's support and help. I am looking forward to the time I am putting in for this marathon, it will definitely be something I always remember.
