Natasha's Birthday Wish...

THE STORY:

Every year, I am asked the same thing... "What are you going to do for your birthday?" and "What do you want for your birthday?"..... But to be honest, the older I get, the less I want and frankly need. There is a beauty found in simplicity.. in stripping down your life to one that is only filled with the basics... I can appreciate that today.

This year, I want to do something different.

I've always had a huge passion for giving back. And at the root of it, I just love helping people, donating clothes or supplies to those less fortunate, and just having an honest, real connection and conversation with someone struggling. It's those moments of vulnerability, insecurity and even lack of hope where one can inspire a friend, stranger or even yourself to make a real impact in the world around us. We're all here trying to make sense of this life, so we might as well empower one another, no matter the differences, and get through it together.

I have always been involved in various volunteering ventures, organizations and missions from a young age. I cannot explain how humble one can become by spending time with people who are so joyous yet have so little. This ultimately has brought me to the conclusion that I would absolutely love starting my own non-profit organization... someday.

But what I can do right now, is give back a little piece of my treasure and my pure love of humanity to a cause that is near and dear to my heart. Friends and strangers have often commented that they watch me from a distance and love what I do and want to be involved in any way... So here is your chance.

For my 24th birthday, I am hoping to raise $10,000 to personally give back to the community who has changed my life in more ways than they know. My family is from a small island in the Philippines called San Francisco. It is there that I have met the most courageous, lovable and joyous souls. The little ones I grew close to over the years, and year after year I looked forward to returning the favor. What I mean is that although we are halfway around the world, there is a similar language that we could understand... We laughed and we talked about the smallest of things including songs we liked to running around the beach playing games. Not only have I personally seen disease and accidents affect the children and families, but natural disasters like the hurricane and even family deaths that can leave a family who lives off less than $1 a day with not much but each other.

My hope and my wish is to raise enough funds to ship all of the clothes I am possibly allowed to. I also want to meet each one of their own personal birthday wish lists along with any immediate necessities including medical supplies, school supplies or clothing.

Please help me achieve this and let's change the world.
