Originally from the small town of Kingstree, SC, Nate Myers moved to Raleigh in 2007 to attend NC State University. During his senior year, Nate took time off from college to pursue other passions in his life. While away from school, Nate worked at the Boys and Girls Club Teen Center in Raleigh where he was able to channel his love for music into running a music production program; he built a multimedia studio for the organization. Nate returned to NC State in Fall 2015 and will graduate in December 2016 with a B.S. in Science Technology and Society with a minor in Arts Entrepreneurship. Nate has a great passion for music, social justice, traveling, and making the world a better place. He is a huge Star Wars fan, loves sports, and his favorite hobby is probably sitting on a deck near a lake reading a book (probably a Star Wars book).
Nate’s idea is a multimedia workforce development program that links teens - primarily from low income homes - with creative professionals to teach them multimedia production skills, and produce video content for businesses and organizations called The Malkuta Project. Malkuta is Aramaic and translates as "empowerment from within." The venture's overall goal is to empower teens and others by leveraging the digital arts for social change.
