THE STORY:

{Summary} Nathan and Katye Clark are preparing to move to Les Cayes, Haiti to minister to the needs of young single mothers. They are a young married couple from central Indiana whom God has called to do this work for the next several years. Katye has had twin passions for Haiti and for teenage mothers since her middle and high school days, and this mission is a fusion of those passions. Nathan has long had an inclination toward business, graduating with a degree in economics from Ball State in 2015. Both have taken active roles in their respective church ministries from a young age. Together they incorporated a brand-new mission called Love of a Father Ministries, and they recently applied for nonprofit status from the IRS. They hope to build this ministry into a self-supporting mission organization which will be perpetuated by Haitian nationals long after they've returned to the US. Startup costs to get this ministry off the ground in Haiti amount to $17,000, which includes a house to live in, an office downtown, and a car to drive. The real estate is an up-front cost because rent in Haiti is typically paid in a one-year lump sum up front.

{UPDATE 8-16-16} After our monthlong trip to Les Cayes this past spring, we have acquired a house and a car! We won't be going back for good until we have enough funding to begin our operations in Haiti. We're seeking to raise the equivalent of four months of operating budget ($3,700/mo) and the cost of a small office (at least $3,000) from this campaign so that we can springboard into helping young mothers as soon as possible!

{The story} When you visit Haiti you fall in love with its people. I don't think it's something that you can resist. The children steal your heart and when you look around at that kind of poverty the desire to do something is overwhelming. Both Nathan and I have had our hearts stolen by this country. At this point in time the Lord has called us to work with an even more neglected segment of the Haitian population: teenage mothers. In a culture where it is still quite likely for a family to send their daughter out of their home after discovering she is pregnant, these girls need love. They need the love of Christ. A love that will be displayed by providing for them in the current moment, but a love that will also change their lives for eternity. Our goal is to be able to help these girls choose to keep their babies, provide food and prenatal care throughout their pregnancy, be beside them through a safe delivery at the local hospital, and finally offer childcare so that they can continue their education. Completing their education will help them to climb out the poverty they were likely raised in. Our goal is to come alongside them through all of this, meeting their needs and teaching them about Christ and His love. Thank you so much for your love, support, encouragement, and prayers! We cannot do this without YOU! --Katye ~*~ For more information, visit our website: loafministries.international
