EVENT DATE: Nov 24, 2016
Please help us underwrite the cost of our 16th Annual Thanksgiving Parade Breakfast for line of duty families!
Each year we invite over 1000 children and family members of fallen first responders, on Thanksgiving morning, to share a hot breakfast and a front row view of the famed Macy's Thanksgiving parade. This event is FREE of charge to the families. And it provides them a chance to gather together, celebrate and ease a sorrow that can be particularly deep-felt during the holiday season.
On average 120 firefighters perish in the line of duty and tens of thousands are injured each year. Many of these are volunteer firefighters without pension programs or unions to support the ongoing need of their families.
An average of one law enforcement death occurs every 53 hours – averaging 171 line of duty deaths per year. In the past 10 years, over 1,400 law enforcement officers gave their lives protecting the public.
These brave first responders are able to step in harm’s way each day because they believe the community will be there to protect and care for their families should tragedy occur. The National Law Enforcement & Firefighters Children's Foundation (NLEAFCF) believes when the ultimate sacrifice has been made it is our duty to help the children of our uniformed heroes achieve their full potential.
We honor this responsibility through emergency grants, college scholarships and family-friendly events like this annual Thanksgiving Breakfast.
Your donation will have an immediate impact on a child who has lost a parent in the line of duty. All proceeds from the Thanksgiving Parade Breakfast help to underwrite our emergency grants and college scholarship programs.
