The National Lawyers Guild (NLG), specifically the Cleveland chapter of the NLG, is running legal support for all protesters who will participate in mass demonstrations at the RNC from July 18-21, 2016. The NLG will be providing Legal Observers, jail support, and criminal defense attorneys to the protesters. Legal Observers (LOs) are trained community members who will be watching and documenting law enforcement interaction with the protesters. LOs are the eyes and ears of the criminal defense and civil litigation attorneys for any charges brought against the protesters by law enforcement agencies. LOs are there to document that the protesters' First Amendment rights to free speech and assembly are honored by the police. LOs are in need of materials to document the police and their actions, such as used cell phones with video capability, notebooks, walkie-talkies, and used bicycles, in addition to tshirts to identify themselves to the the protesters and to law enforcement.
