The National Osteoporosis Foundation is the nation's leading health organization dedicated solely to bone health - preventing, diagnosing and treating osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a pediatric disease that manifests itself as we age. You build your bones during childhood, adolescence and young adulthood. That's all the bone mass you get! You then have to maintain that bone mass throughout your lifetime with a healthy diet and exercise.
10 million people over the age of 50 suffer from osteoporosis and 2 million of them will break a bone this year due to osteoporosis! Fortunately, there are execellent diagnostic tools and treatment options available to prevent these broken bones. We MUST be able to reach as many people and healthcare professionals as possible to be aware of the risk factors and to identify those at highest risk to prevent the painful and debilitating fractures that are caused by osteoporosis.
We need YOUR help! If you have a mother, father, grandmother, grandfather or other loved one or friend who suffers or suffered from osteoporosis, you know the how a broken hip can change a life so dramatically! Please help us to get patients and caregivers the resources they need to prevent, diagnosis or treat this disease!
