BENEFITING: NATIONAL EATING DISORDERS ASSOCIATION
ORGANIZER: NATIONAL EATING DISORDERS ASSOCIATION
EVENT DATE: Sep 14, 2016
Hello my dear people,
As many of you know, I was recently named CEO of the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA). It's been a busy time, to say the least.
My new role is rewarding, though I now have a much closer view into how much work needs to be done and how urgently we need to move this field forward. I make calls to parents who are grieving for daughters and sons who died as a result of eating disorders. I see myths and stereotypes about these illnesses repeated over and over again. I watch our culture churning out toxic messages about food, weight and body image that make it difficult for children to have confidence in themselves. And I am increasingly frustrated that eating disorders have yet to be recognized and resourced as serious public health issues, despite the fact that 30 million Americans struggle at some point in their lives. We've got to keep forging ahead to provide hope and community. And we've got to keep working for that breakthrough.
So. Here's my ask. I hope you'll consider chipping in whatever you can to NEDA in the Revlon Love Is On Million Dollar Challenge.
These fundraising challenges are, well, challenging. But I've chosen to go all in on this one because if we can hit the $50K, NEDA will be invited to pitch Revlon a campaign benefiting our organization. That's a valuable (and achievable!) opportunity to put our organization on the map—visibility and recognition that could advance our mission in unprecedented ways.
Thank you in advance for your support at any level you can give. And please spread the word if you know of others who care about this cause. I promise we will make every dollar count.
With deep gratitude,
