BENEFITING: National Kidney Foundation, Inc.
ORGANIZER: National Kidney Foundation, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
Hi Everyone -
I wanted to share that I will be running in the 2016 New York Marathon. I will be trained by my grandfather Bob Zaretsky who ran in the 1978, 1980, 1981 and 1984 marathons and I will be running to raise funds for the National Kidney Foundation.
For those who don’t know, this is a cause that is extremely important to me. My brother was born with kidney disease and a year and a half ago at the age of 21, he was in total kidney failure. In August 2014 after months of dialysis, I donated a kidney to him and he has never been healthier.
Unfortunately, of the 123,000 people in America on the waiting list for an organ transplant, 101,000 are suffering from kidney disease. Of those 101,000 people, only 17,000 of them will receive one this year and every day 12 people will die waiting for one.
It is my goal to raise $5,000 and awareness about how we can help. This comes out to roughly $190.84 for every mile I run.
