BENEFITING: National Kidney Foundation, Inc.
ORGANIZER: National Kidney Foundation, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
This November, I am running the New York Marathon to help the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) raise awareness about chronic kidney diseases (CKD). As you know well, taking care of CKD patients is my passion as I dedicate my career to them. However, I am always on the receiving end and I take care of them when they already have it or when they are in End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).
Prevention is needed. In the United States alone 1 in 9, or 26 million, are suffering from this illness. Unfortunately most don't even know it. More than 350,000 Americans are spending hours on the dialysis machine 3 times a week. 100,000+ are waiting for a kidney transplant knowing that it may take 4-5 years if they ever get one. Meanwhile 12+ people die everyday on the waiting list.
The good news is, most kidney diseases are preventable and treatable. Healthy lifestyle changes, blood sugar and blood pressure control, and regular visit to your physician are a few things needed to avoid the disease.
Please help me reach my goal of raising $2,500+ by selecting the "DONATE" button and give whatever you can. Thank you for supporting me and NKF in raising awareness and promoting prevention of kidney diseases.
