BENEFITING: National Kidney Foundation, Inc.
EVENT: San Francisco Marathon 2015
EVENT DATE: Jul 26, 2015
About 26 million American adults have Chronic Kidney Disease and my dad is one of them. For the past ten years, 3-4 times per week for several hours each time, he goes to dialysis where a machine does what his kidneys cannot-- clean his blood and regulate the minerals in his body. As you can imagine, the process is time-consuming as well as physically and emotionally draining. It has also made things challenging for me and my family. Despite all this and having to close down ...his medical practice, my dad has always managed to keep a positive outlook on life.
I live across the country and don't get to see him (or the rest of my family for that matter) as much as I'd like to. I'm running a half marathon with “Team Kidney” for him and my grandfather who died of renal failure. I’d love to have your support.
Please donate what you can as the funds will go to the National Kidney Foundation to help promote awareness of kidney disease and provide help and hope to those suffering from the illness: http://www.crowdrise.com/nationalkidneytsfm2015/fundraiser/rahelmarsiehazen
For those of you who can't donate, please consider volunteering with the National Kidney Foundation. Visit their website to learn about a local chapter near you: https://www.kidney.org/
