Francis Stevens Elementary is located in Washington, DC. 99% of students at Francis Stevens Elementary qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. During their visit to Piscataway National Park, students will participate in the Eco-explorers: Colonial Time Warp program offered through Accokeek Foundation. Students will examine the differences between past and present time, and learn about how decisions in our daily lives can impact the environment. These programs help to show the effects of human interaction with the land while encouraging physical activity in an outdoor living classroom. Students will then hike on the network of trails on the park property.
This gift will help cover bus transportation for 65 4th-grade students to visit Piscataway National Park. Every dollar raised will be matched 1-to-1 by the National Park Service Centennial Challenge Fund to cover other fees associated with this trip.
